Affirmations
We returned yesterday from a 10 day Mission Trip to Romania. Any time I make plans to go on a mission trip, I ask God to show us clear affirmation that we are in the place where He wants us. There are so many different places in this world that need help and it is so expensive to go out of the country that I just want to make sure that God is the one who is guiding our steps.
On this trip God gave us numerous affirmations (or signs) that we were right where He wanted us. Before we even left the airport in Greenville, a lady who worked at the airport approached us and asked: “Are you a Mission team?” When we answered “yes” she said that God had told her to come and bless us before we left. She then sang the wonderful blessing for God’s peace to be upon us. We were amazed.
Then, on the long flight from Atlanta to Vienna, a man heard someone on our team singing “Jesus Loves Me.” He approached us and asked if we were going on a mission trip. He too was going to preach the Gospel in another country. He gave us a copy of a book he had written and extended God’s blessings for our trip. This was the second affirmation that we were on the journey God had designed for us.
Our primary goal on this trip was to work with the children and youth in the village of Singer in the district of Tirgu Mures. We were told that the children would not come because of the pressure put on their families by the Orthodox Priest. In spite of his warnings of punishment if they came to our camp, the children came with excitement and enthusiasm. The first day we had over 30 children to show up. The second day there was over 60 and the third day we had 87! Our final day of camp there were over 100 children in attendance. We were rejoicing in the affirmation God gave that this is a place where we can build a ministry that has future significance!!
There were at least 3 other key things that God used to strengthen his affirmation that this is a place where we are supposed to work and do ministry. The needs are greater than our resources can supply. I am praying for other churches and other believers who want to invest in a worthwhile ministry to respond to the “CALL” of God in Romania. If interested in being involved in future trips or if you’d like to give to make the trips possible, please send a comment to this article and leave your contact information.
I thank God for the affirmation He gives when we act out of FAITH!
