A Special People

I just had to write a quick post to comment on the way I have been blessed this week by the wonderful spirit and cooperative attitude among the Washington Avenue family. In our first service last week we very quickly realized that the room was too dark for people to safely move around once the service started. We had one “scare” when one of our precious older gentlemen “almost” fell coming into the room. I felt so bad for him and just prayed that God would help him to be OK. On Tuesday morning in our men’s prayer gathering one of our men told me that, in their Bible study class, he told this gentlemen that some leaders were already talking about building a ramp with a handrail to make it easier for him and others to enter safely. This precious man said: “Oh, I sure hope they don’t go to all that trouble just because I almost fell!” Isn’t that incredible?! There is no limit to the wonderful move of God’s Spirit that we are going to see because of this kind of attitude.

Others also recognized that we needed to have more lighting on during the worship time. But, instead of coming to me with complaints, they light-heartedly shared some possible solutions to the fix the problem. I am so blessed to be able to lead some of the finest Christ-Followers I’ve ever met. So many of the faithful members of Washington Avenue really do “GET IT!” God will bless this desire to see His Kingdom grow even though we have to give up some of our favorite things about church to make it happen!

Remember: SOULS WON TO JESUS CHRIST ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING!!

By the way, we will have the “lighting” situation corrected for this week’s services. And, remember to invite someone to come with you this week. How will they know what God is doing IF we don’t tell them?
