God IS…

God IS…

Have you ever experienced God’s wonders in so many different ways that you just didn’t know how to describe it? That’s what happened to me this past weekend. As I prepared to go on the Winter trip with our youth to a place called “Big Bear” I had a sense in my spirit that God was planning something great. How great I did not imagine. Chris and I had to leave early on Saturday evening so we could get some rest and be ready to lead worship here at Washington Avenue on Sunday. We both had a sense that God was doing some unique things with the youth group and couldn’t wait to hear about their sessions on Saturday night and Sunday morning. The group had a 2 hour invitation Saturday night! Two teenagers were saved and many others confessed their need to get serious about being Christ-Followers!

While we expected God to move in the hearts of these teens, I was amazed at how God showed up and blessed in the worship services here on our campus. Sometimes the first service lacks energy and enthusiasm but God was there and He let us know it!! I am rejoicing at the way God is changing not only people but entire families! It has been awesome to watch Him draw people to the worship services and then see Him working on their hearts.

We said that our Main Event (each Sunday at 9:00 and 10:30) was primarily about reaching new people with the news of God’s love and salvation through Christ. We have challenged and encouraged our people to invite new people to come ‘check out’ what God is doing — many have done the inviting and people are coming! It is so cool to watch this happen.

We are having our first High Attendance Day since I have been the Pastor of Washington Avenue Church on Sunday, March 23! Yes, this is Easter Sunday. We are anticipating a wonderful move of God on this greatest day of all to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. He was crucified and buried but on the third day He was resurrected to live and never die again! We are believing God for a powerful demonstration of His love and salvation on this special day. We are offering a prize in both services for the one who brings the most guests (legitimate guests). I can’t wait to see what God is going to do this month as we decide to “Give It Up” for Him!
