Yesterday we were blessed to hear God’s Word proclaimed in power from one of my dear friends and I believe one of the most anointed preachers in America! I would recommend Clayton King to anyone who wants to hear the Bible’s timeless truths applied to our complex culture. If you missed the service yesterday, you can log on to our website (www.washingtonavenue.org) by Tuesday of this week and watch the service. Here are some highlights that I took away from yesterday’s message by Clayton:

• It’s not a sin to be rich. (It is dangerous to be rich) It is a sin to love money!
• God wants us to enjoy what He gives us. (Generosity is an adventure that is FUN)
• American Christians have amnesia. (forgot what its like to be lost, broke, etc.)
• Generosity is more contagious than the flu.
• Hunting is cool (and OK with God).
• The greatest tool of evangelism is generosity.
• Generosity is a command not a suggestion.
• True Life = Generosity.
• If you can’t be generous with a little you will never be generous with a lot!

These are very applicable truths to our lives. God contiues to teach us things about Generosity that promise to free us to live on a whole new level with Him. I don’t think any of us could have imagined or anticipated what God was going to do yesterday. People began to practice Generosity before they even left the building and others who had the NEEDS were amazed by how God was meeting them! We didn’t just hear a sermon about Generosity, we SAW it happeing right before our eyes.

I told Clayton about our Generosity series but did not get a chance to tell him what God had been teaching us and what we would be doing next week. The message God told him to bring hit on everything we’ve been talking about and the topic of our message for next week! That is God’s way of affirming that we are on the right track!

Trust me, you do not want to MISS next week. We are not going to tell you about how God’s power can be released in your life when you practice Generosity, we are going to SHOW you! I believe God has something great in mind for us this week. We are going to do something that I have never attempted in ministry before and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do.
