The Journey Continues…
Sometimes when a series of messages ends I am not real sure of the lasting effect it will have on people’s lives. I know that people are blessed and that there will be long-term results from faithfully proclaiming God’s Word. But, I also like to experience the definitive changes God is making in people’s lives through dynamic encounters with Him in worship.
Our series on Generosity has been one of those that has produced some immediate change in people’s lives. Even yesterday — on Mother’s Day — we talked about “Next-Level” Generosity and the results were amazing. I have already heard from people who know they are living below God’s best for them because of unforgiveness or because they are too quick to judge or condemn (see Luke 6:37-38 or go to the website later this week to watch the message – www.washingtonavenue.org).
I sincerely believe that God is going to do some wonderful things in people’s lives because we are going to be more intentional to look for opportunities to be Generous towards the people who cross our paths. I also believe we are just starting to experience the outpouring of God’s Power! As long as we EXPECT Great things from God we will RECEIVE great things. I expect God to continue to amaze us each time we get together.
One quick word of thanks goes to Lisa Freeman and her wonderful team of servants who planned, prepared and implemented a successful ministry event for Single Moms this past Saturday night! Great Job Team! The banquet was eloquent, delightful, encouraging, and just plain fun for all involved. It was really a First Class event that I hope and pray will be done each year for this special group of ladies. May God continue to bless these ladies who are raising our future leaders.
It is great to be involved in a church where people are so anxious to help out when a need is publicized. We had budgeted some money for the banquet and the last I heard, we did not spend any of the budgeted money because people in our church stepped up and gave everything that was needed. Washington Avenue is serious about this GENEROSITY STUFF! May God continue to show us how to be Generous in all we do!!!
