End of a Great Day

I am sitting here at the house after returning from our Home Group. We had a great time tonight getting to know three fantastic families that God recently brought into our church family. There seemed to be a great chemistry with those who got together tonight. That’s exactly why we do home groups. If you’re interested contact Ron Taffer at the church this week to see where you can plug in (295-1610). Or, go to our website and sign up. You will be contacted about where to go. Today we “Kicked Off” the series called “One Prayer!” We are participating with over 900 churches across the world in this intentional effort to bring UNITY to God’s Church! You can go to www.oneprayer.com to learn more. I shared this morning how important it is for God’s church to be in complete UNITY because there is only ONE Church, bought by ONE Price (i.e. the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross). And, we have ONE Mission from our Commander in Chief — to reach His world with the Good News of His Love and salvation. I am stoked about God’s response to our efforts to be ONE throughout this MONTH! Please begin now thinking about your ONE PRAYER for God’s Church!

With all this talk about UNITY I have taken some time to consider this question: “Are we UNIFIED at Washington Avenue Church?” If I compare our church to a sports team, I am not sure we are all in agreement on how we “score.” Don’t get me wrong, I know we have a great “TEAM” with some very valuable players. But, we are called by God to be TOGETHER in everything we do! Without this ONE Heart and ONE Mind, we have no guarantee that Jesus will even show up at our public gatherings. And, it is clear that we will never accomplish anything GREAT for our GREAT GOD unless we are ALL Together!!

We have experienced some wonderful blessings this year since making the changes in our format, schedules, worship styles, etc. We had an incredible experience on Easter Sunday with over 566 in attendance. Now it seems like we are ‘resting’ just a little bit. Folks let me remind you that Jesus is still the Savior and other people are not going to be curious or anxious to meet Him if we are not excited about what He is doing in our lives.

We started our year off with a series called “Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye.” We are Transformed by the power of God so that we can go out and become Transformers! This is a year long, never ending emphasis! Let’s don’t forget to be God’s Agents by which He can TRANSFORM our world!

Pray for God to KEEP Us alive and HOT for His Truths and for ENGAGING others with the great things He is doing among us! The Journey is long and the road is sometimes unexciting but at the end of the road there is something fantastic that God has prepared for us. Keep the Faith Washington Avenue! Keep the Vision Alive! If you’re not sure what that vision is come to our next Catch the Vision Class on June 16 at 6:30. I better stop or, like my preaching, I will just keep rambling on! Thanks for taking the time to care.
