Return to Noise

Pray for the Journey group as they travel back home today. Removing these teens from their cell phones, computers, televisions, ipods, etc. helped them to be positioned for God to speak into their lives. I’m sure some of them will be anxious to get “reconnected” to their world. I just hope that some of what God taught us this week will stick. Reality and experience tells us how difficult it will be for some of them to “follow through” with the things they promised to God. I am so glad He is patient and kind in His dealings with us.

Some will ask if the Journey was successful. While we had a great week filled with fun, competition, challenges and mountain-top worship experiences, the efficacy of trips like this will be seen in the weeks and months to come. Like this week when two young men told me that this year’s Journey marked the 2nd for one and the 3rd spiritual birthday for the other one. I think that’s some Camp “Highs” that stuck!

Many thanks goes to our Student Staff — Pastor Ricky and Lisa Freeman — and all the other adults who dedicated their time this week to invest in the futures of these kids. Washington Avenue is blessed to have such servant minded adults who are always willing to help out with these special events. I know as a parent of a teen and as a pastor I really appreciate these adults who are making a difference in my daughter’s life and who are making the student ministries of WAC something to talk about.

FROM MY HEART LET ME SAY THANK YOU TO THESE SPECIAL SERVANTS! GO HOME AND GET SOME SLEEP!!!
