Leaving Today
Our journey to the other side of this great country is here. WE leave TODAY! Our final group consists of 30 people who are ready to go and be a part of something God-Sized. We are flying out in 3 different groups but will all be arriving in the same place (at least that’s our plan). Getting everyone from the air port to the houses will be interesting (and fun I’m sure). By the time we get to bed tonight, it will be much later to our bodies than the clock out West will show. But, the adrenaline of anticipation will take over (like a built in Red Bull) and we will be ready to go.
In packing for a long trip I keep going through an inventory of stuff I’m taking and the things that I think I will need. It is not my favorite thing to do because I always seem to forget something. The main thing is to make sure we have our clothes, essential body cleaning agents, Bible, journal, gum, camera…(see what I mean). Since we are going specifically to assist our Brothers and Sisters in their venture to start a church in San Diego, the most important thing to make sure we have not forgotten is our personal quiet time with God. As in all Mission Trips, it is critical for us to have the right attitude, a spirit that is ‘in tune’ with God, and an expectation that God will some how use us today to make a difference in someone’s life. From the ground travel to Atlanta, our flight to San Diego, our arrival at the houses, etc. we need to be ready for every possible opportunity to “let the Light of Jesus’ shine through our lives. We may find our greatest assignment from God before we ever get to the actual “planned” work of ministry we are going to do.
Let’s all be reminded to have the same spirit and attitude as we go about our daily routines. Today is a great day because Jesus is Lord and we are Saved! I can’t think of any better reasons to be happy and ready to face this day. Though you may not be packing for a trip, it is still important to make sure you have the “essentials” ready for whatever opportunity awaits you. After all, no matter which “flight” we are on (speaking of our journey through earth), as Christ-Followers, we are all headed to the same destination!
I will post updates on our San Diego journey often so STAY TUNED! Your prayers are needed and expected!!!
