God Is Good!
We just got back to our house from the block party. Let me tell you, the enemy did everything imaginable to hijack our attempts to have a top-notch block party. Everything kept going wrong, from getting the equipment to the site, getting everyone on the team together to do the work, having the food we thought was coming, etc. The block party was supposed to start at 6:00 and at 5:55 nothing seemed like it would work out. As we sat there making alternative plans, one of the Elevate staff drove up with the trailer containing a snow cone machine, cotton candy, generator and lots of other stuff. Everybody’s spirits were lifted and we were “in business” again.
It turned out to be a tremendous success! Many more wonderful contacts were made. I had the opportunity to play on a volleyball team that had two college students from San Diego playing. After we won all our games, I talked with these guys for a long time. They both attended church in their home town but when I asked them about being Believers in Christ, one of the guys said: “Not so much!” We talked for a while about faith and answering tough questions about life. I shared my testimony and encouraged him to read the Bible and to ask God for the truth. He said his mind was open. Please pray for Jacob in San Diego. There were other promising contacts made for the Elevate team. They were “pumped” about the way things turned out.
Everyone is getting things packed up because we have to leave at 6:00am to go to the airport. We are sad about leaving San Diego but I think most people are ready to get home. As the saying goes, “there’s no place like home.” We have adjusted to many different situations and tried to be flexible when things failed to go like we planned. Only God knows what the results will be from the work we have done. We have had a lot of fun, worked hard, and made some good friends with the Elevate team.
I am very encouraged by the passion and commitment level of this group of young people. They are the “real deal.” I can’t wait to see what God does with this group of believers. To know that we have the privilege of sharing in this birth of a new church is humbling. I will talk more about the Elevate Vision later and keep you posted on their progress. This has been a very successful trip! South Carolina, here we come!!!
