I am in Charleston spending a few days away from daily responsibilities to refresh for what I believe is going to be a fantastic Fall season for Washington Avenue. God has been sowing some things into my spirit that have caused me to feel so thankful that HE has allowed me the opportunity to serve in such a wonderful church. Spending time with some special friends here in the Low Country is wonderful. It brings back many great memories for me. I have also had the opportunity to visit with some of the people who were in my youth group when I served in Charleston. I have played with their children and drank coffee with them. It’s been great.

Through this time away I have postured myself to hear more clearly from God. The greatest thing about this time is the Peace that He has transfused into my heart and mind. We live in a world that is rapidly progressing to an A-Moral society. This is one step beyond IMMORAL. A-Moral literally means “without morals.” Just take a journey through MySpace and Facebook pages if you have doubts. Even those who profess to “Know” Christ have some offensive language and troubling statements on their pages.

Even though our world is progressing in this direction, God still has a remnant of people who have not compromised and who continue to diligently Follow Christ (which means to submit to His standards of behavior). God has allowed me to meet and serve with some of these faithful followers at Washington Avenue. In these times it is so critical for Christ-Followers to draw closer to each other for encouragement, wisdom, support, fellowship, and to seek God’s face for His Power to rest upon us. Nothing we do in our churches will produce any Eternal Fruit IF we lack God’s power!!! (This is why it is so important for all of us to be in a Connecting Point. This is where God is going to groom and grow His church!)

In short, I ask you to join me in praying for God to bring His people together like never before. I believe our greatest influence on this society is found in our genuine love for each other — “This is how the world will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35) As we Grow closer to the Lord we will grow closer to each other. As we do this, our DREAMS will come alive!! We need to pursue these dreams with a passion once God makes them clear to us!

Come on Washington Avenue, let’s DARE TO DREAM and see what happens! I anticipate hearing real soon some of the things God shows you as a result of our focus on Dreams. Don’t hesitate to share with me or one of our other leaders what God is saying to you. His Vision for our local band of Believers is being sown into the hearts and minds of those who are serious about being “Separated” from our world without being “Isolated!”
