A Great Evening
On Friday, February 13, we had the wonderful privilege of hosting a ministry called “Home With a Heart” for a wonderful meal and some great testimonies. The “Home” as it is usually referred to helps men who are serious about leaving behind some serious addictions to gain a new “lease” on life. I have had the opportunity to speak many times at the Home and always come away from there blessed.
I just want to say publicly how wonderful, loving, kind, generous, servant-minded, etc. the people of Washington Avenue Church are. So many of our people gave up a Friday night to come and serve the current residents of the HOME. Thank you fellow Christ-Followers. Your passion to love others in Jesus’ Name brought a lot of joy into these men’s lives. Some of the guys had family members who came as well. I pray that they too were encouraged to hear from two couples who are making it in rehabilitation.
The drug problem in our world is epidemic. So many people are ruining their lives by using and abusing alcohol and drugs. The evidences of this problem are obvious among many in our society while it is well hidden by others. The best news I can share is that you do not have to stay where you are. If alcohol or drugs is a problem that you would like to get rid of, you can! I can personally testify to the power of God that works in the life of anyone who completely gives up control to Him! And, I can show you some others who have done a complete 180 degree turn around!
At Washington Avenue we are striving to “DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO REACH WHOEVER WE CAN WITH THE HOPE WE HAVE FOUND IN JESUS CHRIST.” What it takes is a willingness to show love and concern for ALL people, no matter what they have done or are doing. We have more local, national, and international mission projects planned this year. So, stay tuned to hear how God can use anyone who is available to Him!
