Another Trip this Year?
This past Sunday at Washington Avenue Church we celebrated all the wonderful things God did on our Mission Trip to Romania. The pictures helped us share with the congregation what God did. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. We displayed about 250 pictures — you do the math!
I shared with the group last week how wonderful it would be if we could get a team put together to go back this year so we can possibly get the church building ready to be used this winter. It would at least be good to get the outside done, get the windows and doors installed, and get the outside painted. To be honest, while I would love to go back, I guess my faith that it would really happen was very weak.
I have had 3 people to tell me that they definitely feel led to go IF I will plan a trip in October. That’s amazing!! But, the reality of the money we would need to buy the materials remained an issue. I said that we would need approximately $8,000 more dollars to get the building to a place where the church could use it. God is so Amazing that over $4,000 of it has already been given!! Go ahead, shout a little with me.
Now I have no choice but to seriously plan for another trip this October. I have been checking on airline tickets and they are much lower than the last trip we took. (about $950) This would make the expenses for each person to be about $1,200.00 The possible dates for this next trip are October 8-18. We would leave on a Thursday afternoon and get back on a Sunday. People who have to take off from work would be able to work a little while on Thursday, October 8 and would then only miss one week and one day. Hopefully this will be easier to manage for those who have to plan for time off.
I ask that you join me in praying for God’s clear direction. Of course, based on what He has already done, it seems pretty clear that He is opening the way for us to go back and accomplish something major in this village. I also want to encourage you to think and pray about going with us. I need some people who can paint, do some minor carpentry, hang and finish drywall, and it would be good to have someone who understands electricity. If we have enough on the team, we could plan to do some ministry with the children in the village as well. These details will have to be determined by the team we are able to assemble.
I look forward to hearing from those who are ready to take the journey!
